Is Akeem Ayers The Choice For 2011 NFL Mock Draft?
Obviously, it was bad timing for Kansas City Chiefs outside linebacker Mike Vrabel to be arrested last week. Not only because he is part of the group suing the NFL, but because his job as the Kansas City Chiefs starter was in question due to a pretty down 2010 season.
The Chiefs may have already decided to use their top pick on his replacement, but this probably clinches it.
The only question was which outside backer would they go after. Justin Houston is expected to be a 4-3 defensive and not a 3-4 backer, so look for Romeo Crennel to look elsewhere. And any interest in Aldon Smith is a moot point, because he's off the board here.
That leaves Akeem Ayers as the best choice. He didn't have a terrific combine, but considering how versatile he was at UCLA, that shouldn't matter. His stock has been rising in recent weeks, so the club should feel fortunate to nab him. Pairing him with Tamba Hali, Tyron Jackson, Derrick ...
