2011 NFL Mock Draft: New England Patriots Use No. 28 Pick on Shane Vereen

Shane Vereen Has the Goods to Be the Next Kevin Faulk
With the Pats' first pick at No. 17, I have them taking Cal defensive end Cameron Jordan, which is a prediction I don't think many people would argue with.
However, people might argue with the idea of the Pats going after Cal running back Shane Vereen with the No. 28 pick. You could say that the Patriots have more pressing needs elsewhere (such as at the outside linebacker position), but I still think Vereen is a good fit.
Of all the backs in this year's draft class, Vereen is by no means the fastest or the strongest. But he might be the smartest. He runs with great vision, and shows great patience. He is also a valuable asset in the passing game.
The way I see it, Vereen has a very good chance to be the next Kevin Faulk, who will turn 35 in June. This may be why the Patriots reportedly gave Vereen a long look at Cal's Pro Day last week.
