The Cowboys trade down one slot too far, miss out on Tyron Smith

The Dallas Cowboys will not trade down again, but they miss out on the guy they wanted. With Tyron Smith off of the board, the question becomes if Nate Solder becomes the best value pick for them.

The answer is "no."

The Cowboys instead grab Cameron Jordan. Jordan is a versatile defensive end who also can be a defensive tackle. Jordan had a great 2010 season and reportedly was an unblockable beast during the Senior Week practices.

The Cowboys need help on their offensive line but they still can fill that hole in the second round. The Cowboys still have a need at the right end and Jordan can fill that hole.

Jerry Jones will have an extra pick or two from this trade down to address the holes later in the draft. Right now he gets a superior defensive talent to help get the Cowboys back in the postseason.

1. Carolina Panthers: Patrick Peterson
2. Denver Broncos: Marcell Dareus
