Surprising some, the New York Giants and the New York Jets have won the bidding battle for hosting the 2014 Super Bowl. Super Bowl XLVIII will be held at the brand new $1.7 billion stadium despite the probable chance of freezing temperatures and precipitation. The two teams were given preliminary permission to bid after the league's Super Bowl advisory committee agreed to waive the standard requirements of 50-degree weather or a climate-controlled stadium.
