Adrian Peterson Contract: Latest News, Rumors on RB’s Future with Vikings

The Minnesota Vikings want to restructure Adrian Peterson's $18 million contract for 2017 and reportedly won't retain him if the running back refuses to negotiate a reworked deal, according to Jason La Canfora of CBSSports.com.
Peterson is due a $6 million roster bonus in March.
Peterson, 31, is out until at least November after the Vikings placed him on injured reserve following meniscus surgery. It is the second season in the past three years where Peterson has missed significant time to injury, although La Canfora reported the Vikings would have attempted to restructure his deal even if he had a productive 2016 campaign.
Peterson was struggling to start 2016, rushing for just 50 yards on 31 carries.
