Gates is sitting on an 85 game starting streak for the Chargers although he may play and see some action, he may be limited all game.
According to San Diego Union-Tribune Chargers beat writer, Kevin Acee, the star tight end has not practiced all week.  Acee said via Twitter that the last time Gates played in a game without practicing was in a playoff game against the Colts in 2008 which he was ineffective.
Gates has played through plenty of injuries in the past but he often doesn't miss an entire week of practice.  Even though he might play today, Gates may play the role of decoy instead of a real receiving threat for the Chargers.
With Malcom Floyd and Legedu Naanee expected to miss the game, the top receiving threats for the Chargers will be Patrick Crayton and Buster Davis.
Crayton filled in nicely for Floyd who left last week's game early as the top wide receiver in the offense.
He caught six passes for 117 receiving yards.
