Brandon Jacobs Fined $10,000 By the NFL, Apologizes To Fans Through Statement

New York Giants running back Brandon Jacobs has been fined $10,000 by the league for his incident on Sunday Night Football when he accidentally threw a helmet into the stands.
The incident came after a poor run by Jacobs in the third quarter in which he tried to dance around defenders and was consequently benched by Tom Coughlin for the remainder of the game.
Jacobs made his way towards the sidelines and attempted to hurl his helmet at the bench in frustration.  However, according to Jacobs, the helmet slipped through his fingers and soared 10 rows into the stands at Lucas Oil Stadium.
Jacobs, Coughlin and General manager Jerry Reese had a meeting Tuesday to clear the air, after which Jacobs released a statement through the team trying to make sure fans didn't turn their backs on him.
