Breaking News: Ben Roethlisberger to Be Suspended Four to Six Games Today

April 21, 2010   ·     ·   Jump to comments

ESPN’s Adam Schefter and Chris Mortensen are reporting that Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger will be suspended for four to six games today for violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy.
The Steelers and those surrounding the organization were preparing for a suspension of at least eight games as late as last night.
However, according to the sources, the suspension will be for a maximum of six games and will provide conditions upon which it can be reduced depending on Roethlisberger’s behavior and compliance to undergo sessions with clinical evaluators.
The Steelers traded their seventh round pick in the 2010 draft to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for former Steelers quarterback Byron Leftwich Monday. Leftwich was the primary backup to Roethlisberger in 2008 and is familiar enough with the system to play immediately should he be called upon in Roethlisberger’s absence.
