C.J. Wilson Released by Lions: Latest Details, Comments, Reaction

The Detroit Lions released defensive tackle C.J. Wilson on Friday, per DetroitLions.com insider Tim Twentyman. After signing with Detroit in November, the 28-year-old Wilson recorded eight tackles and one sack in eight games.
He spent 2014 and part of 2015 with the Oakland Raiders after four years with the Green Bay Packers.
Wilson's release will save the Lions $1.8 million in base salary and another $500,000 in bonuses; however, it leaves Detroit thin on the defensive line.
"Defensive tackle is a position of need for the Lions this offseason," Twentyman noted. "Starters Haloti Ngata and Tyrunn Walker are both unrestricted free agents, leaving Caraun Reid (third year) and Gabe Wright (second year) as the only tackles under contract next season with any real playing experience."
