Can New Pittsburgh Steelers Receiver Emmanuel Sanders Fill Santonio’s Shoes?

An unheralded third-round receiver with great explosiveness and hands.

That description might sound a little too familiar to Steelers fans.

That’s because it not only describes 2010 selection, Emmanuel Sanders of Southern Methodist, but it was also a fitting description of Pittsburgh’s 2009 third-round pick, Mike Wallace, as well.

Fans can only hope that Sanders can come in and match the type of production Wallace provided during his rookie campaign. Especially now in the wake of the recent Santonio Holmes departure.

It was Wallace who last season emerged as a viable target in Pittsburgh’s passing attack, catching 39 balls with six of those going for scores.
The most important of those touchdowns came against Green Bay in a Week 15 victory. It was Wallace's last-second catch in the endzone that propelled the Steelers to a 37-36 victory.
