Cleveland Browns NT Shaun Rogers Avoids Jail Time in Airport Gun Case

On Tuesday afternoon, Cleveland Browns nose tackle Shaun Rogers was in a Cleveland court to discuss his gun charge from earlier this year.

Rogers and his lawyer Patrick D’Angelo waited anxiously as the court ruled that Rogers be placed in a year-long diversion program that will result in the dropping of all charges against him.

During his year-long program, Rogers will have to complete a 10-hour gun course as well as 40 hours of community service.

Now that Rogers is not facing jail time, he will be able to focus on the football portion of his life. Unfortunately for teammate Robaire Smith, that is not the case.

Smith was arrested on a similar charge in November and is yet to have his case heard in court.

The Cleveland Browns are not in the clear just yet with Rogers. Disciplinary action from the league is expected to be handed down sometime within the next few weeks.
