More than any other sport, an NFL player's fantasy value rests at the mercy of his teammates.
Without skilled rushers and receivers, a quarterback will fizzle out. Without a capable quarterback and a stable source of targets, a pass-catcher will rot away.
Fantasy football is also often a zero-sum game for teammates. A superstar operating as his squad's only true playmaker is flourishing with the ball constantly aimed his way. As a young wide receiver falls from grace elsewhere, an experienced tight end is picking up the slack.
