David Akers: Eagles Kicker Shouldn’t Be Blamed For Loss To Packers

David Akers missed two field goals against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday, leaving six valuable points off the board in a game his Philadelphia Eagles lost 21-16.
You can feel free to do the math yourself.
Regardless, as easy as it would be to blame Akers for the Eagles' early exit from the playoffs, you really shouldn't.
The fact of the matter is that Akers' missed kicks (from 41 and 34 yards out) are just a couple of the missed opportunities that plagued the Eagles against the Packers.
Chief among these, perhaps, would be the failed two-point conversion that came after Michael Vick had put the Eagles within striking distance late in the fourth quarter. Brent Celek was called for illegal touching on the first try, but Vick couldn't even do anything with the ball on the subsequent redo.
Had the Eagles gotten the conversion, they would have only need a field goal in order to send the game into overtime. And let us not forget that their final drive ended on the ...
