Detroit Lions Aaron Brown: A Poor Man’s Reggie Bush

Last year the Detroit Lions coaching staff got the opportunity to coach at the annual NCAA Senior Bowl. They got an inside look at players' work ethics, their ability to learn and understand new plays, how well they took criticism, and how hard they practiced.
Lions head coach Jim Schwartz and first year General Manager Martin Mayhew used this experience as an advantage when it came time for the NFL Draft.
Using the advantage of knowing players on a more personal level, the Lions hoped to find talent in the later round of the draft. When it was their turn to pick in the sixth round—pick 162 overall—they put that knowledge to use and selected Aaron Brown, a running back from Texas Christian University.
Brown, 24, had a nice collegiate career at TCU, racking up 487 rushing attempts for 2,596 yards and 20 touchdowns while also adding 81 receptions for 857 yards and five touchdowns.
