DT Jonathan Babineaux Activated By Atlanta Falcons

September 15, 2010   ·     ·   Jump to comments

The Falcons activated defensive tackle Jonathan Babineaux Tuesday, and he will play Sunday against the Cardinals. Backup center Rob Bruggeman was waived to make room on the roster.

Babineaux led the Falcons with six sacks in 2009, and led the league in negative plays for a defensive tackle.

“It’ll be good to get Jonathan back,” head coach Mike Smith said. “Jonathan is a guy that can create negative plays…he’s a penetrating defensive lineman, and it’ll be great to get him back.”

The Falcons recorded three sacks in their 15-9 overtime loss to the Steelers, none of which came from the defensive tackle position. Defensive ends John Abraham and Kory Biermann recorded sacks, and both should benefit from Babineaux’s return.

Babineaux will make his season debut Sunday when the Falcons host the Cardinals at 1 p.m. EST.
