Eddie Lacy’s Weight Concerns Shouldn’t Overshadow Strong Showing in Practice

Perhaps the photo taken of Green Bay Packers rookie running back Eddie Lacy at Monday's practice was shot from a bad angle. Perhaps the second-round pick did gain a little weight. But the ensuing concern over the 23-year-old's apparent extra poundage overshadowed what should have been the real story: Lacy dominated at Tuesday's practice.
David Woods of The Score tweeted out the photo seen round the world on Monday:
In the full-pads practice on Tuesday, Lacy—listed at 5'11", 230 pounds—bulldozed his way to three touchdowns in the Packers' 11-on-11 red-zone team drills, according to Paul Imig of Fox Sports Wisconsin. Most of the time, it was he who was doing the heavy hitting.
Lacy said, per the Fox Sports Wisconsin report:
Today I feel like it was my best day since I've been out here. I was comfortable with everything and I feel like I ran smooth and made good reads and I just the hole the way I was supposed to.
