The San Francisco 49ers' high-profile investment in wide receiver Eric Rogers will not pay dividends in 2016, as the 25-year-old suffered a season-ending knee injury.

Chip Kelly Announces Rogers' Injury Friday, Aug. 5 Per Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk, 49ers head coach Chip Kelly said Friday that Rogers tore his ACL during a non-contact drill on special teams. 
Per Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle, Kelly was also pleased with the progress Rogers made before his injury occurred: “He was doing a great job for us. Really feel for him. That transition from the CFL—had a great spring for us and was really pushing.”
Rogers signed with the 49ers in January after playing the last two seasons with the CFL's Calgary Stampeders. He had a star-making performance in 2015, leading the league with 1,448 yards, 10 touchdown receptions and finishing fourth with 87 receptions.
