Fantasy Football Top Tens: Quarterback

The 2009 season was the "year of the quarterback". A record-breaking 10 quarterbacks threw for 4,000+ yards and all of them threw at least 26 touchdowns. Even historically smash-mouth teams like the Bears and the Steelers approached a pass-first offense last season. As the league becomes more pass-friendly, the fantasy value of quarterbacks has spiked. Even though running backs still take up the majority of the first round in mock drafts, there has been a noticeable increase in the amount of quarterbacks taken within that round. The one tool I like to use is the FPA, or Fantasy Points Allowed, rating. It's essentially a strength of schedule: 32 is worst, 1 is best. It shouldn't be the only factor you should consider (the Bills' quarterbacks have the 5th FPA rating compared to Tom Brady's 25th), but it's a highly useful tool.Begin Slideshow
