Jaguars Franchise Kicker Josh Scobee, Prepare for Free Agency

Last season, the Jacksonville Jaguars lost their punter, Adam Podlesh, as the free-agency period began. The fallout from the loss was disastrous as the team made a "quick" move and signed then-43-year-old Matt Turk to replace him.
The replacement turned out to be more than a nightmare. Turk was cut in the middle of the season and replaced by Nick Harris. But the damage had already been done. Field position in the NFL is crucial, as the Jaguars found out when they realized Turk was not the answer.
Now, the Jaguars, who were facing a similar situation in possibly losing their second-leading scorer on the team last season, have placed the franchise tag on kicker Josh Scobee, tendering him a one-year deal with the team.
According to a report in the Florida Times-Union, the one-year deal is said to be about $2.65 million.
