Jairus Byrd Signs 1-Year Franchise Tender with Buffalo Bills

Better late than never, the Buffalo Bills and Jairus Byrd agreed to a one-year franchise tender, officially ending the 26-year-old's recent holdout.

With the preseason now halfway over, there were steadily growing concerns about when Byrd would return. Missing training camp and preseason is not only potentially detrimental to a player being in game shape, but with the addition of new head coach Doug Marrone and new defensive coordinator Mike Pettine in the offseason, it was also crucial to get Byrd back with the team as soon as possible. 
He had to sign his franchise tender before the start of the regular season to make all of his $6.916 million, so most believed this was always an inevitability.
