Jarryd Hayne Waived by 49ers: Latest Details, Comments and Reaction

The Jarryd Hayne era with the San Francisco 49ers has come to an end after the team waived the former rugby star. 
The 49ers announced the move on their official website, with Kendall Gaskins being promoted from the practice squad to take Hayne's spot on the active roster. San Francisco needs another running back for Week 8's game against the St. Louis Rams, with Carlos Hyde ruled out due to a foot injury. 
Matt Maiocco of CSN Bay Area did report the 49ers are hoping Hayne is able to clear waivers to re-sign with their practice squad Monday. 
Hayne was one of the most talked-about players during the preseason, dazzling with his ability to create plays on special teams.
After making San Francisco's 53-man roster prior to the regular season, though, the 27-year-old struggled to translate his preseason work over. Hayne had 108 all-purpose yards and three fumbles on just 17 touches.
