Javier Arenas Must Be Drafted By the Chargers

In my mind there is no doubt that the Chargers must draft Javier Arenas with their first-round pick. It's almost a no brainer for the following reasons:
1. He's ready to start now. After playing for Alabama, the SEC and national champion, he is used to good competition, and the transition would be a lot easier than for a guy coming from a smaller school. For example, Northern Illinois' Larry English, last year's first-round pick.
2. The Chargers have to draft a cornerback ASAP to replace Antonio Cromartie. Arenas will be available when they pick.
3. Arenas is a huge play maker on special teams. With Darren Sproles tender, it is the obvious choice to let someone else do the kick and punt returning. Arenas is one of the best punt returners in the nation, averaging 14.1 yards per attempt, while also averaging a huge 24.1 yard per attempt in kick returns.
Sproles will be the lead back this year in San Diego. He must be relieved of his special teams duties.
