Tomsula Reportedly Expected to Be Fired Sunday, Jan. 3 According to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, the Niners are expected to retain general manager Trent Baalke, but they may fire Tomsula. Bleacher Report's Jason Cole also reported Tomsula is "likely out." CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora reported the 49ers' "thinking on [Tomsula] began to change midweek with firing of Chip Kelly.] He added thast Kelly is "under strong consideration" by the 49ers.
However, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported, "Word is no decision has been made on whether to retain Tomsula. The team's performance as of late will be watched closely. Those in charge will meet on Monday to hear Tomsula's plan for improvement and figure out what is in the best interest of the organization. But it is no sure thing Tomsula returns."
