Joey Bosa’s Mom Says She Wishes Son ‘Pulled an Eli Manning’ on Draft Day

Rookie defensive lineman Joey Bosa still hasn't attended San Diego Chargers training camp, and his mother reportedly brought up a painful chapter in the franchise's history when discussing the contract dispute between the two sides.
"It bums me out for him so much," Bosa's mother said Sunday in a Facebook comment regarding the impasse between the Chargers and the No. 3 overall pick, according to Michael Gehlken of the San Diego Union-Tribune. "Wish we pulled an Eli Manning on draft day."
The Chargers selected Manning with the No. 1 overall pick in 2004, but his father, Archie, said he didn't want his son to play in San Diego before the draft, per Gehlken. The Chargers proceeded to trade Manning to the New York Giants in exchange for a package that included quarterback Philip Rivers.
Manning has won two Super Bowls in the Big Apple, while the Chargers have made the playoffs once since the 2009 season.
