New York Jets Punter Steve Weatherford Is a Moron

This past Sunday New York Jets punter Steve Weatherford was sent out on a fourth-and-18 in the first quarter, and to the surprise of everyone (including the Green Bay defenders) he decided to run for the first.
What’s even more surprising: the decision to run was made, on the field, by Weatherford, and not by the coaching staff. Apparently this is standard practice for the Jets, and Weatherford is routinely given this option.
Admittedly, I’m not a Jets fan, so I can’t honestly say I know too much about Steve Weatherford. I know Mike Westhoff is one of the best in the business, however, so if he and Rex Ryan feel Weatherford is capable of making that decision on the field himself, so be it.
But like Spiderman says, “With great power comes great responsibility.” So the fact that Weatherford admitted after the game he opted to run WITHOUT KNOWING HOW FAR HE HAD TO GO is inexcusable.
