New York Jets RB Thomas Jones To Be Released Friday

According to team sources, the New York Jets have announced that they intend to release star running back Thomas Jones on Friday due to a breakdown in contract negotiations that have been on-going since last season.
The 5'10" 212-pound running back will become a free agent in March and is likely to be one of the top free agents available on the market.
He was set to receive a $3-million bonus in March had he been re-signed.
The nine-year veteran's last three seasons with the Jets have been some of his most productive, including last year's performance in which he helped the Jets reach the AFC Championship game.
Last season he recorded over 1,400 rush yards on 331 attempts, averaged 4.2 yards per carry and reached the endzone 14 times.
Jones, now 31, will likely go to a team looking for a solid, veteran running back. Due to his age, he might not be considered a three-down back for much longer, but he could likely produce great numbers behind a good offensive lin...
