NFL Draft 2011: Is Drafting Cam Newton Ahead of Jake Locker a Mistake?

With his impressive performance this season, Cam Newton has launched himself towards the top of many teams draft boards. He is not a polished NFL prospect but his great athleticism has teams drooling over the thought of getting their hands on him.The current obsession with Cam Newton has made me wonder; when did everyone forget about Jake Locker?
Locker and Newton are both going to be projects, so why is Newton more highly regarded? Lets look at a comparison of the two players.
Newton: 6'5" 248lbs 9 7/8" hands. 4.59 40 yard dash, 35" vertical, 10'6" broad jump, 6.92 cone drill, 4.18 20 yard shuttle
Locker: 6'3" 231lbs 9 5/8" hands. 4.59 40 yard dash, 35" vertical, 10" broad jump 6.77 cone drill, 4.12 20 yard shuttle
