NFL Draft 2011 New York Jets Need to Create More Pressure
The New York Jets are in a prime position to make it to a third-straight AFC Championship if they can manage to create even more defensive pressure.
As crazy as that sounds considering Rex Ryan’s defensive schemes and relentless onslaught of blitzes, the Jets must get to the opposition’s ball carrier much quicker in 2011.
Although the cream of the crop pass rushers will be gone, the Jets still have a host of great talent to choose from.
Outside pass rushers such as Georgia’s Justin Houston, UCLA’s Akeem Ayers and Arizona’s Brooks Reed could all be options for the Jets, and all three would present a major upgrade over Bryan Thomas and Calvin Pace.
According to Pro Football Focus, Calvin Pace ranked among the five-worst pass rushers in the league.
