NFL Draft 2011 Nose Tackle New York’s Biggest Need
Rex Ryan’s defense has been near the top of the league the past two seasons. Just imagine if they actually had a dominant nose tackle to take pressure off the rest of the defense.
Kris Jenkins was supposed to be that man but he fell victim to two ACL injuries in each of the past two seasons. He was going to be the destructive force up front to wreak havoc and take the team to the Super Bowl. Unfortunately, that idea was better in theory because Jenkins could not stay healthy.
The Jets have an opportunity to find the next Jenkins in this year’s draft class. Obviously, he is younger, but he is also more athletic, just as big and can be just as destructive.
He goes by the name of Phil Taylor out of Baylor and he resembles his alumn mascot—a bear. Taylor is going to be a mammoth force in the NFL and with Rex Ryan’s guidance, he could become the next great defensive tackle.
