NFL: San Francisco 49ers Finalize 2011 Coaching Staff

The San Francisco 49ers coaching staff has now been completed.
Jim Harbaugh's first coaching hires were taken from his Stanford staff. The next coaches he hired came from around the league.
Now he has taken them from the previous staff of the team he has taken over. Running backs coach Tom Rathman, defensive line and one-game interim head coach Jim Tomsula, and offensive line coach Mike Solari were all retained in their former roles.
Rathman, aside from being a key part of the Niners Super Bowl teams in the '80s, has done a good job working with Frank Gore and Anthony Dixon. Tomsula was popular with the players and had them ready for the last game. Having continuity with a young line makes Solari staying on worthwhile, and the players are developing well from a line that gave up the most sacks in the league two years ago.
