NFL Week 5 Picks: 4 Road Teams That Will Pull Big Upsets

October 6, 2012   ·     ·   Jump to comments

Week 5 of the NFL offers 13 games over the weekend. The home team is favored in eight of them, but four of those teams are already on upset alert.
If the five favored road teams win and the following upsets hit, there will be nine teams flying home in a good mood.
The following lines were taken from Bovada.

Philadelphia at Pittsburgh
Spread: Steelers -3½
Over/Under: 43
Money Line: +160/-180
There is little question as to why the Pittsburgh Steelers are favored in this game. They are playing at home off a bye week and will have Rashard Mendenhall for the first time in 2012.
They also feature their traditionally brutal Steel Curtain that held the New York Jets to just 10 points in Week 2. Granted, the San Francisco 49ers shut the Jets out last weekend and made them look bad in the process.
Sandwiching Pittsburgh's lone win in 2012 was a pair of games that saw them surrender over 30 points.
The defense is struggling.
