Pat Shurmur Has the Reigns in Cleveland, and Mike Holmgren Is Riding Shotgun

The hiring of Pat Shurmur as the new head coach for the Cleveland Browns means that Mike Holmgren is going to be far more involved in the team than last year.
Shurmur will have the title of head coach, but I think it is obvious that Holmgren is going to be the HC HC.
Shurmur is NOT going to get full control, and in that way he is a lot different than McDaniels. He is going to have Holmgren as his close mentor and Holmgren and Tom Heckert will be running the organization. This way Pat Shurmur can focus on the team.
I think that Shurmur is hired for his talent, and Holmgren wants to see him grow into the head coach role, and I think what we are seeing is Holmgren's first step in building a coaching tree from within.
From now on there is going to be a Cleveland Browns way of doing things, a culture of this is how we play football in Cleveland. New coaches and players will be brought in who fits the culture—to stop the ever on going rebuilding when ever a new...
