Pat Tillman Film To Be Released August 20: Father’s Letters Released

Hero is a word that has been abused for quite some time. This abuse takes place all too often in the world of sports. 
A hero is a person “noted for feats of courage or nobility of purpose, especially one who has risked or sacrificed his or her life.” Does that definition bring to mind Michael Jordan, Ray Lewis, Tom Brady, Chad Ochocinco or any current sports figure? 
An idol on the other hand is “one that is adored, often blindly or excessively.” All of the above sports figures surely fall under that heading.
Next time someone says that a current sports figure is their hero, please correct them and let them know that they are using the word incorrectly.  Please let them know that mean to say that the person they are referring to is their idol. 
In today’s sports world, there is one athlete that can be defined as a hero and that is Pat Tillman.
