Paul the Octopus, the world cup predicting mollusc has died.
The two-year-old, eight-legged creature accurately predicted each one of Germany's World Cup matches and a few others during this summer to become the most famous octopus since....well, of all time.
How did an octopus predict soccer matches?
Two plastic containers of food were put in front of him, each posted with the flag of the World Cup teams playing one another: The German flag on one container, the Netherlands on another.
Whichever container he ate from, was declared his "prediction."
He was said to have passed away from "natural causes." That's a sad, tragic death for such a young octopus with such a bright future of prognostication.....he might have taken Punxsutawney Phil's spot one day.
