Phantom Fine: Patriots’ Jerod Mayo Will Be Receiving a Fine From NFL

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - The word out of the NFL's office today was that New England Patriots' stud linebacker Jerod Mayo will be receiving a fine.
The fine is said to be for "at least" one of Mayo's hits in the recent week 17 game against the Buffalo Bills.
There were no penalties called on Mayo that Sunday, so it is unclear in which hit the league is talking about.
However, the word is that it could possibly be on the hit Mayo laid on Bills' receiver Stevie Johnson. The hit was boarder-line helmet-to-helmet, but there was no penalty called on the play; both players walked away just fine.
Despite the league informing Mayo of his potential fine, there has been no word on the amount.
