Phillies, Giants and the Entire NFC: Millions Miss Out As FOX, Cablevision Fight

FOX had a jam-packed weekend of sports lined up with football and the National League Championship Series. Unfortunately for three million Cablevision subscribers, they were blacked out of seeing both the football Giants battle the Lions in Week 6 and the baseball Giants battle the Phillies in the LCS. Negotiators for Cablevision and FOX's parent company, News Corp., failed to reach an agreement over rates Sunday, more than a day after the current deal expired. FOX pulled its channels and programming off Cablevision while the two sides discuss how much Cablevision will pay to carry them. The two sides are set to meet again Monday.
This is yet another case of the viewers getting the shaft when it comes to cable disputes; this weekend was the third time that millions of subscribers were caught in between Cablevision and a dispute with a network.
