Pittsburgh Steelers WR Limas Sweed will Miss the 2010 NFL Season

After rupturing his Achilles tendon during a spring mini-camp then receiving surgery for the injury, Steelers coaching staff has announced on Tuesday that third-year wide receiver out of Texas, Limas Sweed, will miss the entire 2010 NFL season and is being placed on the injured reserve list.
According to Steelers officials, Sweed injured his left Achilles tendon during a pad-less practice with the other wide receivers on Sunday, May 2. He was carted off the field unable to put any pressure on the ankle.
The following day, Sweed had surgery on the injured ankle and was expected to require at least four to six months of recovery time.
Steelers' coaches decided to place him on injured reserve in order to bring another receiver onto the active roster.
Former Steelers' wide receiver and technologically impaired Santonio Holmes, left the Steel City to play with the New York Jets.
