Randy Moss Trade: Belichick’s Ego Equals Long Season For New England

Well folks, it's official.  For the bargain basement rate of a third round pick, Randy Moss will be suiting up for the Minnesota Vikings for the remainder of 2010.  It's the story of a coach who is fast on his way to becoming an egomaniac living off of past accomplishments, along with the story of a player who's always been a little bit needy despite have all-time physical gifts.
Why Belichick continually gets a pass, I understand to an extent.  Three Super Bowls in four years will buy a guy some leeway to be sure.  However, he's becoming increasingly erratic both in personnel decisions as well as on the field schemes.
I understand Seymour for a first-rounder as that's near value for a player of his age, but trading Moss for a third round pick on a team that will need to outscore opponents?  It simply doesn't make sense, especially given the lack of a playmaker anywhere near the threat Moss poses for defensive coordinators.
