Ravens Signing Donte Stallworth a Good First Step, But Not the Answer

Baltimore Ravens General Manager Ozzie Newsome stated recently that the club was going to take some chances this offseason.
The team wasted no time in making good on that promise by signing recently reinstated WR Donte Stallworth.
In case you’ve been under a rock, Stallworth was recently reinstated to the NFL after cooling his heels for the last year or so after he accidentally ran over and killed a pedestrian on his way home one night. Stallworth received a few weeks—yes, weeks— in jail for this offense.

Whether Stallworth is guilty, not guilty, or should have been thrown in the gulag is not really the story. He was sentenced by a court of law and served his time. He then was sentenced by a court of football and served his time. According to the NFL and the U.S.A., Stallworth has paid his debt to society.

The story is that the Ravens have taken a dramatic first step toward improving their wide receiver corps, by far the top priority of the offseason. ...
