Redskin’s Shoot Down Some Planes, Win Late Against Jets

Redskins (2-1) defeated the New York Jets (1-2) 16-11 with a 15-yard touchdown pass by Richard Bartel late in the game.
The Redskin's offense was nice. Rex Grossman threw for 111 yards with no TD's or interceptions. Third stringers John Beck and Richard Bartel threw for a combined 120 yards and a touchdown. Willie Parker started the game as the running back for the Redskins, but after eight attempts for just 16 yards and a 2.0 yard average, he was benched in favor of Larry Johnson (nine attempts, 42 yards, 4.7 average, one reception, 15 yards and a touchdown). Also, Clinton Portis ran once for three yards.
The receiving core was explosive. Veteran Joey Galloway (three receptions, 29 yards) caught his first passes today, and rookies Terrence Austin (three receptions, 34 yards) and Brandon Banks (two receptions, 35 yards) were spectacular. Santana Moss led everyone in receiving yardage with two receptions for 42 yards.
