Report: Jets Almost Landed Brandon Marshall, Fell After Contract Talks

As draft week officially began on Sunday, we remember one week ago that the Jets made a blockbuster deal in acquiring Santonio Holmes from the Pittsburgh Steelers for a fifth round pick.
The Jets front office was determined to improve the targets for Mark Sanchez, it an attempt to inch closer to the Super Bowl title.
But as one source says, New York almost saw Brandon Marshall in their path.
According to Aaron Wilson, who writes the column Wilson Wire for the National Football Post,  the Jets were in near position to get a deal done for Brandon Marshall.
The Denver Post reported the Jets were offering their first round selection this year for the receiver.
However, the contract demands of Marshall did not make the Jets happy. A source who followed the entire saga said "the Jets were just a few million dollars short."
Marshall was dealt last week to their division rival, the Miami Dolphins, for two second round draft picks.
