San Diego Chargers Begin the “California Kid” Era

"I was ecstatic."
That's what Ryan Matthews said when asked how he felt about being drafted by the Chargers. "I felt pretty sure I would be drafted by the Texans or Seahawks, so when the Chargers jumped up 16 spots to grab me I couldn't believe it," said Matthews.
Honestly, neither could I, and just like Matthews, I was ecstatic and in shock. Just how good is this guy?
I briefly read up on him, and I knew that he was out of our picking range. I read much more about Jonathon Dwyer, Joe McKnight, and Jahvid Best.
I was almost convinced by Paul Pelibius and Henry Young that we probably wouldn't  even get Best, and would instead immediately draft a nose tackle, so Matthews to me was beyond a realm of possibility. After feeling the same shock and ecstatic feeling Matthews felt, I did my research on our new back.
