Should Brett Favre Retire, Tarvaris Jackson Is Ready to QB the Minnesota Vikings

Just in case Brett Favre decides that being a grandfather means he really should finally retire from the National Football League (yeah, right), quarterback Tarvaris Jackson will be ready. Tarvaris signed his one-year, $1.176 million contract tender today, ensuring that he will be Brett's backup again in 2010.
Of course, the Vikes could add a rookie QB to the mix in this week's NFL Draft, but I don't see anyone, under any circumstances, jumping ahead of TJack on the depth chart.
The numbers haven't been that impressive—33 games, 21 TD passes, 18 INTs, and a career QB rating of 77.9. But Tarvaris has shown improvement—albeit slow improvement—to warrant the team's continued interest.
I'm not sure I would trust him as a starter for any length of time, but he's a decent backup quarterback who is fulfilling just that role. If the Vikes are forced to rely on TJack to lead them on the Super Bowl run they are so well-equipped for, however, it's anyone's guess w...
