The Case That Is of the San Francisco 49ers

I think everyone just needs to take a good long hard look at the 49ers.
They are a team on the rise.
More and more people seem to be giving the Niners the credit they deserve, so there's no reason for me to not pitch in.

First off, I am going to go ahead and say that Smith will emerge as a franchise quarterback next season.
Seriously, when is it not the quarterbacks fault when they perform poorly?
In his first four years in San Francisco, he was sacked left and right. Virtually no protection.
The one fully healthy season he had, there was no 1,000 yard receiver on the roster. He had Arnaz Battle and Antonio Bryant. They were good, but not great. And Vernon Davis was only a rookie.
Alex Smith was only in his second year as a pro on the National Football League.
How quarterbacks do you hear of having even a semi-good performance in their second season?
Not often.
