Third Times a Charm? Carolina Panthers Lose Linebacker Thomas Davis for Season

For a second straight season, the Carolina Panthers will be without rising star linebacker Thomas Davis with a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee. The injury is the second one in the past seven months for Davis.
The severity of the injury was revealed Wednesday, after he tweaked the same knee he injured in '09 in practice Tuesday. 
He was injured during week seven against New Orleans in 2009 with the same injury, as he buckled his knee while backpedaling. He was going on to have a superb season, collecting 71 tackles, 1 1/2 sacks, and two interceptions.    
While he has had a speedy recovery, he chose to not wear a brace on Tuesday's practice, and fell to the turf on his injured knee, almost identical to how he did last season. 
Following his injury, Davis signed his one-year, $3.268 million tender as a restricted free agent.
