Tom Brady Reportedly Won’t Play in Packers vs. Patriots Preseason Game

New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady's status for the start of the regular season remains up in the air, but signs point toward the four-time Super Bowl champion sitting out the team's preseason opener.
According to NFL Network's Stacey Dales, sources do not expect Brady to suit up Thursday night against the Green Bay Packers since he isn't partaking in Wednesday's practice.
As pointed out by Mark Daniels of the Providence Journal, it isn't uncommon for head coach Bill Belichick to hold Brady out of the team's first preseason game:
Sitting Brady may be a tactical move from New England's perspective, designed to prepare second-year signal-caller Jimmy Garoppolo. Brady is currently suspended for the first four games of the regular season due to his alleged involvement in the Deflategate scandal, which means Garoppolo very well may be the starter for the opening month.
